Modemix is building the fastest way to get around in cities.
Our first product is a navigation app that combines cycling and public transit navigation, which makes public transit 2x faster on average.
Most people think the future of transportation is autonomous cars. But autonomous cars don't scale; they get stuck in traffic. Modemix is approaching transportation from first principles.
About the role
Modemix is our number one priority and we make significant sacrifices daily. We typically work all day (10 to 12 hours), and on weekends when needed.
You will join as a core builder with real autonomy and influence over technical direction. You won't be someone executing predefined tasks.
You will own substantial equity in what you're building.

Requirements
- Personally rides multimodal transit passionately (bike/scooter + train)
- History of solving extremely hard problems
- Exceptionally good at getting effective assistance from AI while coding
Good to have
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals
- Can efficiently fetch and cache data in a Go or Rust application
- Can design and structure database schemas that optimize read and write performance
- Comfortable deploying and scaling applications, with the ability to weigh tradeoffs between different infra/devops solutions
- History of building scalable systems
- Amazing communicator who tailors their words to the audience

Compensation
- $120k to $180k base salary + 0.5% to 4% equity
